Live a Meaningful Life and Find Out Your Life Mission

Tom Thiss said: “Having a purpose is the difference between making a living and making a life.” The vast majority of us spend our whole lives trying to figure out why we’re here. Some people are unsuccessful, while others are successful. Then there are people who get distracted from their ultimate goal.

It does not matter how old you are or where you come from, finding your life mission might be one of the hardest, yet most defining steps for self-development. Living a meaningful life comes with a lot of self-introspection and the ability to know when you are wrong or right and when it is ok to fail or to succeed.

People who are aware of their life mission tend to live a more purposeful life than those who don’t. Because you know who you are, where you came from, and where you’re going, you tend to enjoy each day to the fullest.

What Is a Life Mission?

Simply put, a life purpose is just your life’s message, regardless of religious undertones. It’s the message you want to send throughout the world during your time on this planet. Having a personal life mission statement compels you to consider your life in-depth, explain its purpose, and determine what is genuinely essential to you.

Defining your life purpose also challenges you to explain and convey your core principles and objectives in as few words as possible. It makes your beliefs and ambitions a part of who you are by integrating them in your identity. We ultimately want to start our happiness journey, don’t we? Well, the answer lies in how much time you are willing to spend on self-introspection and determine your ultimate goal.

Why Is Finding Purpose Important?

Finding the right purpose in life may seem nice, but besides being nice, it is also definitive. Living an enjoyable lifestyle is important for better physical fitness, ultimately helping you prevent chronic health problems. It is important to feel connected to other people to find meaning. Use of your gifts in the service of others may assist your journey toward true meaning, whereas lonely solitude may create existential difficulties in your life.

Research shows that 83 percent of Americans believe that “I feel like my life has a purpose; my life has significance“, while only 16% disagree. Another 27-year long study, conducted by a team of experts from the University of Michigan, concluded that finding your life mission and living a meaningful life is the foremost condition to achieve fulfillment, productivity, and live a longer and happier life.

Breaking Down the Benefits of Knowing Your Life Mission

A personal life mission statement requires a significant amount of time and work to establish, but it pays off handsomely once completed. It might assist you in determining what is most important to you. It establishes your definition of actual success. Knowing your purpose can help you make better judgments and keep focused on your long-term objectives.

It Helps You Achieve Clarity

Finding your life mission can help you make better judgments and maintain your focus on long-term objectives. Unstoppable are those who know what they want to do with their lives. People who are unsure about their life’s purpose are unsure of what they desire, and hence squander their time on useless pursuits and never achieve a fulfilling life.

Knowing your personal life mission statement makes it easier to distinguish between what’s vital and what’s not. Most individuals nowadays are engrossed in a plethora of activities that, in the end, have no bearing on their lives and end up not leading a healthy life especially because of that. Yet, the path to your happiness journey depends fully on having clarity in your life.

It Keeps You Focused on Your Goals

If you focus your energy on one precise goal, you can find your path and avoid distractions. Knowing your objective may help you identify your true passion, which can function as a tremendous drive to accomplish something extraordinary. Your passion will push you to reach your goals, whether it’s a childhood dream or a new way of life.

Finding purpose is necessary because it may serve as a guideline for how you spend your time, connect with others, and carry out each action in your life. It gives you a greater sense of self-development and keeps you focused on your core values and true passions.

Try Out Our Exercise for Ultimate Fulfillment!

As part of our happiness journey program, we want to focus on the most important aspects you need to consider in your life. At times, you need an exercise that will help you with self-introspection and help you establish the core of your life mission.

Firstly, let’s consider the three levels of mission: none is more essential than the others, but understanding where you stand in each will help you craft a more effective mission statement. Let’s take a look!

  • On the first level, a person feels fulfilled when they achieve something for their own life, such as material things, personal accomplishments, or personal progress.
  • On the second level, helping others makes a person happy. This sort of person gets greater joy from making other people happy. An example of such a mission statement could be: “My mission is to connect to the infinite wisdom available to our humanity. I’m capable of inspiring them to transform their own life because I lead by example.”
  • On the third level, the individual has a universal purpose, one that is more tied to mankind as a whole, one that is more like a bigger mission. The individual isn’t interested in assisting certain groups. Scientists, artists, and those who devote their careers to creating a vaccine or a cure are examples of this sort of person, yet they do not do it for recognition.

In order to begin the exercise, create a draft and think about what stage of the self-development journey you are in. Then, you should use a structure like this one:

My mission is to be (native talents), Using my capacity of (unique attitudes), To conquer (objectives described in your legacy exercise).

It’s better to let your mission statement lapse. Periodic assessment and evaluation can help you stay in touch with your own growth and maintain your statement in line with your deepest personal or professional objectives. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is my mission founded on tried-and-true principles? Which ones are they?
  • Do I believe this reflects the best of who I am?
  • Do I feel good about what this symbolizes in my greatest moments?
  • Do I get a sense of direction, purpose, challenge, and inspiration when I read this statement?
